It really depends on your servers economy currently as to what is “the best” thing to farm.
After you both do some research on what is selling for the most out of all the possible things to farm, team up and grind it out together.
With the expansion looming in the next few months your best bet will be to pick up a gathering profession like herbalism and gather tons of herbs from the low level areas as I am sure quite a few folks will be picking up inscription.
I actually rolled two different low level characters to gather these herbs for me and have saved up about 500 of each type of “old world herb” to push on the auction house as soon as that patch goes live. (The next content patch that is coming before the expansion will include the new profession of inscription)
Doing all the dailies should net you a pretty good amount of money though but that has to be some of the most boring Wow game time ever.
PS
Not that I am judging you because I too play a lot of Warcraft, but I would like to mention that playing eighteen hours of World of Warcraft even when you are on holiday is a very bad idea! It’s unhealthy and you are on holiday go outside every once and awhile!
PPS
The epic gem market has been pretty solid as well. Run some heroics and purchase the raw epic gems and resell them. That is another good way to make some cash.

If you and your friends are playing together on the same server, might want to try farming instances. People think this is chump change but find the right item and it can pay off. The epic sword in Shadowfang Keep usually runs for a few 100 gold because it is a highly sought after twink item.
Another example is cloth. Lots of cloth can be had by farming instances and it can sell pretty well too. On my server, Runecloth sells over double what Netherweave sells for, and a group of friends can collect a lot of it if they work together doing level 50ish instances before Outlands.
A great tool for making money on the Auction House alone is the Auctioneer addon. You just install the mod, scan the AH once a day or so, and post all the items you wish to sell. You can avoid selling at a lower price than necessary, and even buy underpriced items and then relist them, making you instant profit off the sale. This one is more tricky than farming, but with patience you’ll get it.
Check out the WoW Economist website, it has loads of info like this.
